Peaks & Dales Advocacy
Peaks & Dales Advocacy is an independent organisation based in Buxton offering advocate support for:
- older people;
- people with learning difficulties;
and people with mental health problems;
who are living in the Peak District and North Derbyshire Dales, including Great Longstone.
The service is free to all users. The organisation, which is a registered charity, aims to ensure that the views of the people who want our help are known, respected and protected. The advocates who work here are all trained and supported. While none of them profess to be experts there is a lot of expertise within the organisation on health, social matters, life and even law if needed.
Our one to one advocacy work is done by their volunteers and a small team of paid staff.
They do not try to replace families but there are occasions when the people they work with, who they call partners, need someone independent to stand in their corner. That is what an advocate does.
If you think we can help you or someone you know, or you would just like some more information, you can either ring on 01298 79539 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you think you might be interested in joining Peaks & Dales Advocacy as a volunteer advocate or in some other voluntary role please do contact them for an informal talk. Tehir existing volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and ages and all training given is practical and based on experience.
